The 4680 Bharat Cell marks a milestone for Ola. It is an indigenously developed battery technology. Ola manufactures these cells in-house at its Tamil Nadu gigafactory. As a result, the company controls the entire process from cells to packs.
Previously, Ola used imported 2170 cells. However, the shift to 4680 Bharat Cell brings advantages. These include higher energy density, better range, faster charging, and improved safety. For instance, the S1 Pro+ offers up to 320 km range with this battery.
Advancing Indigenous EV Technology
Ola Electric leads in vertical integration. The 4680 Bharat Cell reduces dependence on imports. Consequently, it supports India’s self-reliance in EVs. Additionally, costs may drop as production scales.
The company plans to expand cell capacity to 20 GWh soon. This growth will enable more models with 4680 Bharat Cell. Furthermore, Ola explores lower-cost chemistries for future versions.
Customers benefit directly. The 4680 Bharat Cell delivers superior performance. Scooters accelerate quicker and last longer. Thus, owners enjoy reliable daily commutes.
Shaping Future EV Adoption in India
Hyperdelivery sets a new standard. It brings quick-commerce speed to vehicle purchases. Therefore, more people may switch to EVs without waiting weeks.
This move could pressure competitors. Other brands might adopt similar fast services. Meanwhile, Ola strengthens its market position.
Looking ahead, hyperdelivery may roll out to other cities. Combined with in-house batteries, Ola accelerates India’s EV transition. The 4680 Bharat Cell powers cleaner mobility. In addition, it creates jobs and boosts local manufacturing.
