Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z Price Cut: Now Rs 1.80 Lakh

Pulsar NS400Z

Bajaj downsizes Pulsar NS400Z to a 349cc engine and slashes price by up to Rs 24,500 on-road

Bajaj Auto cut the Pulsar NS400Z price to Rs 1,80,092 ex-showroom after it was fitted with a 349cc engine. Buyers save up to Rs 24,500 on-road due to lower GST, insurance, and registration costs. The bike previously used a 373cc unit.

Engine Strategy Shift

Bajaj moved the NS400Z under the 350cc threshold to access 18% GST instead of higher rates. The new liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine produces 40.6 hp and 33.2 Nm. It shares the same architecture as the updated Dominar 400. This keeps core features and chassis unchanged while trimming costs without major redesign.

Power and Pricing Data

  • Engine: 349.13 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 89 mm bore x 56.1 mm stroke
  • Power: 40.6 hp @ 9,000 rpm
  • Torque: 33.2 Nm @ 7,500 rpm
  • Price: Rs 1,80,092 ex-showroom (down from ~Rs 1.94 lakh)
  • On-road savings: Up to Rs 24,500

The new setup delivers 2.4 hp and 1.8 Nm less than the prior 373cc motor. It sits below the Triumph Speed 400 and KTM 390 Duke in price while offering comparable power output in the streetfighter class. Previous generation buyers paid more for marginal extra performance.

Beyond the Spec Sheet

This change lowers the cost of ownership for performance-oriented commuters and weekend riders in Indian cities. Reduced purchase price and potentially better fuel efficiency from the shorter-stroke engine cut running costs. Users may see less hesitation in daily use or longer ownership periods as monthly expenses drop.

In real-world traffic, the bike maintains aggressive Pulsar street presence and quick acceleration for filtering or highway merges. The spec sheet misses the point that a lower entry price expands the buyer pool among NS200 upgraders, who now access 40 hp territory without stretching budgets. This pressures rivals to match value in the sub-Rs 2 lakh performance segment and accelerates Bajaj’s volume growth in a GST-sensitive market.
