Tata Motors Launches Updated Punch EV Facelift

Tata Punch EV

Tata Motors has introduced the facelifted Punch EV with larger battery options, improved range, faster charging, and revised pricing starting at ₹9.69 lakh ex-showroom

Tata Motors has launched the updated Tata Punch EV facelift in India. The model features larger battery packs, faster charging, and a lower starting price than the previous version.

This update strengthens Tata’s position in the entry-level electric SUV segment. The Tata Punch EV now offers better value, with increased range and efficiency at lower cost.

Battery and Powertrain Updates

The Tata Punch EV facelift introduces 30kWh and 40kWh battery options using prismatic LFP cells. These replace the earlier 25kWh and 35kWh packs with cylindrical cells. The larger 40kWh pack delivers an ARAI-certified range of 468km.

Power output reaches up to 129PS in higher variants. Torque stands at 154Nm. The switch to prismatic cells improves energy density and supports quicker charging.

Charging and Efficiency Gains

DC fast charging now peaks at 65kW. This allows a 20-80 per cent charge in 26 minutes. Tata claims to have added 135km of real-world range in 15 minutes of charging.

The acti.ev platform underpins these changes. It enables better packaging and thermal management. Real-world range for the top variant reaches around 355km under C75 conditions.

Design and Feature Changes

Exterior updates include revised bumpers, new LED headlamps, and fresh colour options. Interior retains the 10.25-inch touchscreen and digital cluster but adds OTA updates, smartwatch connectivity, and voice commands in multiple languages.

Safety features cover six airbags as standard across variants. Higher trims include ventilated seats, a sunroof, and wireless charging. The Tata Punch EV retains its micro-SUV stance while offering improved boot space in some configurations.

Pricing and Market Positioning

Introductory prices start at ₹9.69 lakh ex-showroom for non-BaaS variants. Battery-as-a-Service option begins at ₹6.49 lakh, with per-km battery charges starting at ₹2.6. This makes the Tata Punch EV more accessible than before.

The facelift aligns the Tata Punch EV more closely with ICE counterparts in pricing while expanding its electric appeal in urban and semi-urban markets.

Beyond the Spec Sheet

The Tata Punch EV enables daily commutes of 300+ km without midday charging for city users. Families access reliable electric transport for school runs and weekend trips with reduced stops.

Lower running costs support frequent movement for small business owners transporting goods. Faster charging improves highway reliability for longer drives. Urban drivers shift behaviour toward electric ownership due to predictable access and lower ownership expenses over time.
