Renault Unveils New Duster SUV in India

Renault Duster

Third-generation model returns after a four-year gap with hybrid option and India-specific updates

Renault unveiled the new Renault Duster in India on 26 January 2026. The event took place in Chennai and marked the model’s return after its discontinuation in 2022.

This unveiling matters because the Renault Duster aims to strengthen Renault’s position in India’s growing mid-size SUV segment. The brand’s market share has declined in recent years, and the Renault Duster carries strong recognition from its earlier success.

Design and Platform Details

The new Renault Duster features a muscular exterior with prominent Duster badging on the grille. India-spec changes include connected LED taillights and a roof-mounted spoiler. The SUV rides on the Renault Group Modular Platform, tuned for Indian road conditions.

Renault tested the Renault Duster extensively across diverse terrains. Production occurs at the fully owned Chennai facility.

Powertrain Options

The Renault Duster offers multiple powertrains. A 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine delivers around 160 bhp with manual or automatic transmission choices. A strong-hybrid variant uses a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with electric motors for a combined output of about 160 bhp.

These options provide flexibility for different driving needs. The hybrid version supports better efficiency in urban and highway use.

Features and Safety

The cabin includes a seamless display, ambient lighting, and premium touches like accent stitching. Features comprise wireless charging, Arkamys audio, and a 360-degree camera. Safety elements feature ADAS functions such as lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

Renault provides a 7-year or 1,50,000 km warranty under its programme. Pre-bookings started at Rs 21,000, with prices expected in mid-March 2026.

Beyond the Spec Sheet

The Renault Duster enables reliable long-distance travel on varied Indian roads. Families access improved cabin space and comfort for daily commutes or weekend trips. Lower fuel costs from the hybrid option reduce ownership expenses over time.

Goods movement benefits from practical boot space and a rugged build for light commercial use. Users gain confidence in reliability through extended warranty and tested durability. Behaviour shifts toward efficient SUVs as hybrid availability supports reduced emissions in personal mobility.
