NHAI Introduces Annual Toll Pass for Seamless Travel Across India for Rs 3000

FASTag Annual Pass

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) rolls out a unified annual toll pass to simplify toll payments and promote ease of travel across the country’s national highways

In a major move towards enhancing travel convenience for commuters, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a nationwide annual toll pass, offering seamless access across all toll plazas on national highways.

This initiative is part of NHAI’s continued efforts to digitise and streamline toll collection, reduce congestion, and promote a unified national mobility system.

The newly introduced annual toll pass India aims to eliminate the need for multiple toll transactions during interstate travel. With a one-time annual payment, commuters can now drive freely across national highways without frequent toll stoppages or additional payments.

The pass is integrated with the existing FASTag system, making it easily accessible for regular users.

What is the NHAI Annual Toll Pass?

The annual toll pass India is a prepaid digital payment mechanism valid for 12 months, costing Rs 3000 for 200 trips. It provides unlimited access to all NHAI-operated toll booths across the country, regardless of the state.

The pass is expected to be particularly beneficial for frequent travellers, commercial fleet operators, and long-distance drivers who regularly traverse inter-state routes.

According to NHAI officials, the pass will be priced competitively and linked to the user’s FASTag account. Users can purchase the pass through the MyFASTag app, authorised banks, or NHAI partner websites.

Once activated, it will allow uninterrupted access through any NHAI toll gate without deducting charges per trip.

Benefits of the Annual Toll Pass

One of the most significant advantages of the annual toll pass India is the cost savings it offers for heavy users. Fleet operators and transport companies, in particular, will benefit from predictable toll expenses, reduced administrative burden, and time efficiency. Additionally, the system is expected to minimise traffic congestion at toll booths by reducing per-vehicle transaction times.

Moreover, by encouraging digital payments and reducing cash handling, the initiative also aligns with the government’s broader goals under the “Digital India” and “Ease of Doing Business” programs.

Nationwide Rollout and Future Expansion

The pass is currently being rolled out in phases, with pilot programs in high-traffic corridors such as the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Golden Quadrilateral. NHAI plans to fully implement the program nationwide within the next quarter, following successful trials.

Officials have also indicated that the scope of the annual toll pass India may be extended in the future to include access to certain state highways and public-private partnership roads under central control.

So What it Means for the Commuters?

The launch of the NHAI annual toll pass India marks a transformative step towards unified and efficient road travel in the country. As the system gains momentum, it promises to revolutionise how tolls are collected and how people move across India’s vast highway network.

For those who frequently hit the road, this could be the perfect time to consider switching to the annual toll pass for hassle-free, borderless travel.
