Spy shots confirm refreshed exterior, ADAS addition, and cabin upgrades for the ladder-frame SUV in late 2026

Toyota has begun testing the next-generation model of its popular SUV. Spy shots from Thailand show a heavily camouflaged test mule with clear signs of design and feature updates.

This matters now because the current model has remained largely unchanged for nearly a decade. The new Toyota Fortuner arrives amid growing competition in the premium ladder-frame segment. It addresses long-standing demands for modern safety and technology.

Exterior Design Refresh

The new Toyota Fortuner adopts a more upright and muscular stance. Spy images reveal a revised front grille, slimmer headlamps, and an aggressive bumper. The rear shows connected tail lamps and a redesigned tailgate. These changes maintain the rugged road presence while updating the look.

The platform remains the updated IMV ladder-frame shared with the Hilux. This keeps body-on-frame strength for off-road use and load-carrying.

Advanced Safety and Cabin Upgrades

ADAS hardware appears in spy shots, including radar in the bumper and cameras on the windscreen. This suggests Level 2 features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist are available on higher variants.

The cabin draws on the new Hilux, featuring a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Connectivity improves with OTA updates. Electric power steering enhances daily handling.

Powertrains stay familiar for India. The 2.8-litre turbo-diesel continues with possible mild-hybrid support. The 2.7-litre petrol option remains. Transmissions include a 6-speed manual and an automatic, with 4×2 and 4×4 setups.

The new Toyota Fortuner improves long-distance travel safety through ADAS alerts and interventions. Families have access to better visibility and assistance on highways.
