Mercedes-Benz revives its GT series in India with the AMG GT 63 and GT Pro, blending high-octane performance with ultra-luxury features

In a thrilling development for performance car enthusiasts, Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 and GT Pro has been reintroduced in India, marking the return of its iconic GT series. Discontinued in 2020, the GT lineup is back with more power, sharper design, and cutting-edge technology.

The AMG GT 63 is powered by a handcrafted 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing a staggering 630 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, making it one of the fastest four-door coupes available in India. The GT Pro variant adds track-focused enhancements like active aerodynamics, carbon-ceramic brakes, and AMG Ride Control+ suspension.

Inside, the GT 63 offers a luxurious cabin with Nappa leather, customizable ambient lighting, and the latest MBUX infotainment system with voice control and AI-based personalization. Safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist, and a 360-degree camera.

Mercedes-Benz is targeting India’s growing ultra-luxury segment, where demand for high-performance vehicles is rising among HNIs and collectors. The GT 63 is expected to compete with models like the Porsche Panamera Turbo and BMW M8 Gran Coupe.

The return of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 to India represents a significant moment in the country’s luxury automotive landscape, marking the resurrection of one of Mercedes-AMG’s most celebrated performance lineups.

This strategic revival comes at a time when India’s ultra-luxury car segment is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven by expanding wealth, changing consumer preferences, and an increasing appetite for high-performance vehicles among automotive enthusiasts.

The AMG GT 63’s re-entry into the Indian market is particularly noteworthy given the expected price of ₹3 crore (Approx) for the E Performance variant positioning it firmly in the ultra-luxury segment where few vehicles dare to venture. This pricing strategy reflects not just the car’s exceptional engineering and performance credentials, but also Mercedes-Benz’s confidence in the Indian market’s ability to absorb premium pricing for world-class automotive excellence.
