Lotus has made a bold move. The iconic British carmaker recently revealed its first-ever Lotus plug-in hybrid model. This new variant builds on the all-electric Eletre SUV. However, it adds a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine for greater flexibility.
The Lotus plug-in hybrid debuted in China’s regulatory filings on 5 December 2025. Moreover, Lotus Technology confirmed the news shortly after. Known as “For Me” in China, it likely launches globally as the Eletre Hybrid. The official reveal happens in January 2026, with sales starting in China soon after.

Best of Both Worlds
This Lotus plug-in hybrid combines a petrol engine with electric motors. It delivers an impressive 952 horsepower. That figure surpasses the electric Eletre R’s 905 HP. Additionally, a 70 kWh battery offers substantial electric-only range, estimated around 420 km in testing cycles.
Performance remains thrilling. The SUV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in about 3.3 seconds. Yet, it gains extended total range, potentially over 1000 km with the engine assisting. Fast charging supports quick top-ups too.

Lotus once planned a fully electric lineup by 2028. However, slower EV adoption prompted a rethink. Now, the brand embraces hybrids. This Lotus plug-in hybrid addresses market demands in regions like Europe and the Middle East.
