VinFast VF6 & VF7 Bookings Open Tomorrow in India

VinFast India Launch

Vietnamese EV Maker VinFast Enters India with VF6 and VF7, Promising Style, Performance, and Value

Tomorrow, July 15, 2025, marks a milestone for the Indian EV market as VinFast, a Vietnamese automaker, opens bookings for its first-ever models in India: the VF6 and VF7. These electric SUVs, set to launch during the festive season, signal VinFast’s bold entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing EV markets.

Backed by a $2 billion investment, including a Tamil Nadu manufacturing facility, the VinFast India launch is poised to shake up the competitive landscape. But what makes these SUVs stand out, and how do they stack up against rivals? Let’s explore.

What Features Define the VinFast VF6 and VF7?

The VinFast India launch brings two distinct SUVs. The VF6, a compact electric SUV, measures about 4.2 meters and boasts a crossover-style design with V-shaped LED DRLs, split headlamps, and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen. Its minimalist cabin uses premium vegan leather and offers practical storage, ideal for urban families.

The VF7, a premium midsize SUV, stretches to 4.5 meters with a sleek, coupe-like roofline and 19-inch alloy wheels. It features a tech-rich interior with a heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS, including adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assist.

Both models promise a premium feel, but how do their features translate to real-world usability? Can their design and tech appeal to Indian buyers seeking value and innovation?

The VinFast India launch emphasizes advanced safety, with the VF7 offering seven airbags and a 360-degree camera. The VF6, while slightly less equipped, still includes Level 2 ADAS and a 423-liter boot. These features position both SUVs as practical yet aspirational choices.

With four color options—Neptune Grey, Brahminy White, Crimson Red, and Jet Black—these vehicles aim to attract attention on Indian roads. But will their premium interiors and tech justify their price tags?

How Do Performance and Competition Shape Their Prospects?

Performance is a key highlight of the VinFast India launch. The VF6, powered by a 59.6 kWh battery, delivers 200 bhp and a claimed range of up to 399 km (WLTP). The VF7 offers two powertrains: a single-motor FWD (201 bhp, 310 Nm) and a dual-motor AWD (343 bhp, 500 Nm) with a 70.8 kWh battery and up to 450 km range.

These specs suggest strong urban and highway capabilities, but how will they fare in India’s diverse driving conditions?

The VinFast India launch faces stiff competition. The VF6, priced around Rs 18–24 lakh, rivals the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV.

The VF7, starting at Rs 50 lakh, competes with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW iX1 LWB. With a 35-outlet dealer network and plans to expand production to 150,000 units annually, VinFast is betting big on localization and service. Yet, as a new brand, can it build trust in a market dominated by established players?

The VinFast India launch could disrupt the EV market with competitive pricing and modern features. By targeting both urban buyers and premium segments, the VF6 and VF7 offer versatility.

Their success, which has already faced some hurdles however, hinges on delivering real-world range, reliable after-sales service, and brand recognition in a price-sensitive market.

As bookings open, Indian EV enthusiasts have a new contender to consider—one that blends style, tech, and ambition.
